A “FUN-raiser” to benefit local youth leadership program and kids fighting rare disease with an evening of purse bingo, games, and more.

Sylvania, November 3, 2022

The Avalon Foundation will be hosting Ladies’ Night FUN-raiser on November 3rd at Sylvania Country Club. The evening’s funds will support “Kids Caring for Kids”; a local youth leadership program that offers support to pediatric patients fighting rare disease.

“As a nonprofit organization, getting through the pandemic was a great challenge without the funding we count on through our in-person events. So many of us were enthusiastic to be able to gather in person again; and this was an easy stroke of genius from our community champion, Jill Kopanis (Dynamic Dies, Inc.),” shares Deborah Ayres, President of The Avalon Foundation. “Focusing on “FUN” for a great cause is such a wonderful event to plan!” co-chair, Jennifer Gruber adds. “Women need regular opportunities to connect and enjoy themselves in this fast-paced busy world. They typically lean into philanthropy as well; so LADIES’ NIGHT for us is a win-win for everyone. Our goal is for each guest to leave with that feeling of ‘that was just what I needed!’ and tell their friends about it.”

The Avalon Foundation hosted this event last November and received immediate praise and request to make it annual. They also host a Bourbon Cigar Dinner with Moussa Salloukh at Souk every September with the same intent. In February, they celebrate Rare Disease Day with an annual brunch hosted by their youth leadership board, recognizing the accomplishments of their program and the impact of the psycho-emotional support their programs provide nationally.

“This [Ladies’ Night] is one of the best events I have attended in years! Great food, fun, and most of all, supports an incredible cause. My whole table enjoyed themselves thoroughly; and we all want to come back next year,” Shelby Skiver shares about her experience last year.

Tickets can be purchased for $65 through the website (KidsCaringForKids.org) and includes entrance, dinner buffet, cocktail, and initial bingo card for each round. Games and raffle baskets will also be available; bring cash for all the extras. Tickets are sold individually or by table of eight. Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Some featured bag brands are Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Coach, Brahmin, Dooney & Buerke, Burberry, and a bonus Louis Vuitton.

The Avalon Foundation established itself in Toledo in 2017 by a group of kids under twelve who wanted to support the vision of their friend Avalon who suffered with a rare bone disease. Their Youth Leadership Program is available to local kids ages 10 and up, focusing on leadership, compassion, contribution, and commitment. The efforts of this group directly and positively impact pediatric patients fighting rare disease through their peer support program. This mental and emotional support helps young patients stay compliant with life-saving treatment that is often very painful. To learn more, visit KidsCaringForKids.org.
